I’m Marie O’Neill
I’m a Holistic Psychotherapist and Spiritual Coach with 15 years clinical experience. I specialise in helping highly sensitive people heal from the wounds of feeling “too much” or “not enough”, helping you to understand and honour all parts of yourself so that you can live authentically as the real you.
As a sensitive person myself, everything I teach is founded in my own personal and professional experience.
My Journey
I understand this experience intimately, not just as a therapist but as someone who has lived it. For years I believed there was something fundamentally wrong with me. I didn’t realise that as a highly sensitive person, living in the world was often too much for my nervous system. My stress levels were often through the roof and and my body started saying no through physical symptoms that no specialist could cure. I kept thinking if I could just work harder, be more organised, have better routines, I'd be able to function like everyone else. But this only made things worse.
What finally changed everything was when I discovered that the issue wasn't me needing to try harder. It was that I needed to understand and work with my highly sensitive nervous system, not against it. When I learned to actually listen to my body’s wisdom, regulate my nervous system and address the patterns and limiting beliefs I'd been carrying, my symptoms resolved. My energy stabalised and my body re-calibrated itself back to health. I found a way to live that actually felt sustainable. And enjoyable!
My Approach
I believe that the deepest wound is the disconnection from self. My approach is founded in reconnection and integration of all parts of ourself, using my unique Sensitive Soul Framework, involving the body, nervous system, mind and soul to return to wholeness.
My Professional Training
Psychotherapy
I hold a postgraduate qualification in counselling and psychotherapy from the University of Edinburgh. My clinical training is founded in the dialogue between psycho-dynamic and person - centered therapy.
Spiritual Coaching
As an ordained interfaith minister and spiritual coach I am interested in the ‘invisible’ dimensions of our being. Connecting with something greater than ourselves (whether that be nature, the universe, God, the source, energy, or anything else that feels true for you), is the most powerful resource to reclaim.
Compassionate Inquiry
This programme, developed and taught by dr Gabor Mate is a groundbreaking trauma healing modality combining all aspects of the human mind, body and soul to facilitate integration and wholeness from within.
Mind-Body Medicine
As a SIRPA informed practitioner I have studied the latest neuroscience of mind - body healing, a ground breaking modality to heal chronic stress and stress induced illness, such as chronic pain, fatigue, gi and bladder issues, migraines, etc.
